Father and Son's

The father and son's camp out is just around the corner and my boys are getting ants in their pants waiting to go.  What about yours? Do you all have any similar traditions in your family.  I'd love to hear about them. In honor of the upcoming father and son's camp out  I am posting my favorite Father and son's picture.

Post-edit:  These are not my children and this is technically not my favorite father and son's picture.  It's a picture I took recently of our good friends from England and I am currently in love with it.  :)

I heart faces challenge Week 13 - “Dramatic B&W” Photo Challenge!

This is my first time to enter any sort of photography contest but I couldn't pass it up when I saw the theme.  I recently took this picture of my darling 7-year old as a reminder of how cute he looked before braces.  We are going in tomorrow morning for the first visit with the Orthodontist.  Wish us luck.

Inspired

I have been inspired left and right lately by some pretty amazing photographers. Becky Earl recently posted a shoot she did of her girls that was just beautiful...I still get the goosebumps thinking about it. And the equally talented Brooke has posted a few jaw droppers lately. Who am I kidding all of her sessions are jaw droppers. These ladies are inspiring me to take my photography to a new level. I went out tonight to photograph one of my darlings in hopes that I might be able to capture more expression and create something a little better than last time. I have so far to go but I want to thank these two girls for sharing their mad skills with me and everyone else. Can't wait to meet you both. :)

Summer dream plans

Anyone curious to find out where I secretly want to be this summer with my brand spanking new full frame camera and a bag full of primes?  You will faint when you click on this link so do prepare.  I am going to try this word out--don't hate, Elaine-- *swoon* (Thinking I won't use it again ... I might though.)

P.S.

I don't really have a "brand spanking new full frame camera and a bag of primes"  I wish I did. :)

Me and my little buddy getting ready for St. Patricks day. We are planning a serious partay!

I have really enjoyed having time at home with just this little guy after Daddy goes to work and his big brother heads off to school.  Tomorrow I re-instate my no photography during the day-time hours rule again...cause, I just can't stand the thought of not making the most of everyday with my little buddy.

First thing on our list of things to do in the morning is PLAN A PARTY!!! Whoo-hooo!

March

This is a picture I took of some lovely cherry blossoms at dusk with my Nikon D60 and a 50 mm F/1.4 A FS lens.  I am happy about the bokeh and I really like the look of the picture in general so that made me feel good to see a little progress.

My baby

A little bit of this Southern Belle.

Many have seen these pictures on facebook before if not you are in for a treat. This little darling deserved a post of her own. I couldn't help it...she was so ready for the photo shoot and a delight to work with...a real natural. Louisville, Kentucky was the location in case you fellow las vegas photographers are racking your brains trying to figure out where I came up with the colorful location. Her equally beautiful and charming parents and siblings will follow. Enjoy the lovely Miss C.

Cute as a button

Chubby babies are so darling to photograph. I had the best time with this little angel and her parents. She was so good...even when we went outdoors for a shot with the hydrangeas. Enjoy a few of my favorite shots

Senior Pictures

The {R} Family

It was a pleasure to photograph this sweet family. I was impressed with how well behaved the children were. It got a little cold when the sun started going down but they were still all smiles. Here are just a few shots from their session.

The {H} family

We love the {H} family here over at the Holland household. They are friends from Louisville, Kentucky and Megan and I worked together at BYU for awhile. Ephraim plays the guitar, sings and tells really funny jokes. Our photo session was a quick one but we were able to capture the cute personalities of their darling little boys. Can't wait to see them again. Enjoy

The {E} Family

I had no trouble getting this group to look natural and have fun. They were beautiful. It was a lot of fun to see these girls work the camera. Thanks for letting me capture a few memories for you.

{O} "Fake Wedding"

{J} Family

This photo shoot was a memorable one because it happened on my birthday and the next day was Ashlee's Birthday. I loved the bright colors and happy faces of this great family. Thank you for letting me photograph you.

The {B} family

My first memory of this family is of the mother. She caught my eye in church one day wearing her awesome red circle earrings. "Where can I get a pair of those I thought to myself"? Then, I took a second look and noticed her aquamarine colored eyes and dark hair. Something about all of those great features working together with her black outfit and red earrings said to me, "you've got to take that girls picture". So I called her up and asked her about it. She agreed wondering what she was getting herself into I am sure. At that point I didn't have much of a portfolio and only had a few sessions under my belt. But despite my inexperience she agreed and it turned out to be a good session other than the fact that I ended up getting lost for the shoot putting us back nearly an hour from the scheduled time. Her poor kids were such troopers, I am guessing they were pretty tired once we finished.

Thank you {B} family for making my pictures look good.

Sarah and Andrew Steele and soon to be baby Asher

As I try and catch up on my blog and attempt to post every session I have had this year I find my self on my third session ever and it just so happens to be a few days after baby Asher came into the world. Congratulations Sarah and Andrew on the birth of your first child. I snapped a few of these two during a family session back in October. It was fun to play around with angles but I remember being so nervous about camera malfunctions getting a good shot and whether or not I even new what I was doing. Turns out we got a few great shots and I was thrilled. It wasn't hard to do with these two. They are both photogenic and fun to be around. Enjoy a little snippet of Sarah and Andrew.

Jennifer and Brian

Meet Brian and Jennifer J.  Back in the fall, I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with this neat couple capturing their fun personalities.  Jennifer was so open with me it was easy to feel as if I had known her always.  She told me her version of meeting Brian for the first time...she thought he was FINE!  Brian in turn shared his version ... he had no idea that she even liked him. According to him, she was all business (they worked together). They sorted it out and have been married for a few years now.

During the session I asked a lot of both Brian and Jennifer.  The looks Brian gave me in response to my suggestions were hilarious.  It was hard to maintain my composure enough to get the shots I did. It was by far one of my most memorable photography experiences so far. They were both so willing to do almost everything I asked of them and always with their great big smiles.  So with out any further delay here is a small glimpse of Brian and Jennifer.
